AVR Draft #4 U/B Mill (MTGO 8-4)

Welp, I drafted U/B Mill as my first MTGO draft. Not exactly a "Dream Archtype", but when it comes together, it does stuff. I 2-1'd this one, winning G1 of the finals handily, losing a close game 2, and mulligan + land shortage g3. Was a close battle for certain. The amount of board clogging and over all game haulting force this deck has gave it the long game to win through a chain of Deadwaters with the help of a Stern Mentor and an Atlas. One game I even killed my own 5 drop to mill for the win.

The deck is here. I somehow managed to turn off my draft recorder in my MTGO settings, but has since been corrected, so going forward i should have picks saved. There were two picks at end of pack 2 i missed to take a phone call (whoops) but outside of that draft was relatively smooth. I first picked a Shade in an otherwise mediocre pack. The only card I was considering was a Kruin Striker, which is likely a better pick, but I hadn't played Mono-B in a little while, and I wanted to go in that direction. The next few picks came Into the Void, Tandem Lookout, Mist Raven, and I wasn't sure I'd even end up in Black. After a 3rd pick Otherworld Atlas in Pack 2 that also head a Dreadwaters, I decided to gamble on the mill strategy. I did table the Dread Waters, found a Stern Mentor, and a couple other Dread Waters. I had First picked a Death Wind in both packs 2 and 3, and ended up with the Demon making Enchantment early Pack 3 also. I think all in all, this deck was just about right, I'd probably rather have +1 Stern Mentor and -1 Dreadwaters, but just about what you want for a deck like this. Maybe another Butchered Ghoul, as blocking twice is an obviously desirable asset. I faced down the Angel-Making-Equipment in the finals and was able to hold it off with the Demon-Making-Enchantment fairly easily one game, and could deal with it another game. There are definitely some issues with this deck, but it does stuff. Blue and Black do have great cards for a grindy deck like this, whether your win cons are Fettergeists and Demonic Taskmasters, or... well.. Dreadwaters.
